Summary: Imagine a world already overtaken by zombies. Except, the zombies have slowly overtime become their own civilization in the loosest sense. Even better, imagine if they weren't even the worst thing to come back from the grave. You'd better hope that the zombies get their act together before their more feral relative tear both sides apart.

History: After a zombie plague wrecks the human population, the world is separated into three camps. There's the humans trying to survive, the zombies that actually spend more time shambling around trying to live out something that even comes close to their old lives, and the Boneys, animalistic cannibals that are basically zombies that have given in to despair and ate away at their own flesh. The Boneys menace both human and zombie alike, though the latter are safer seeing how the monsters eat only things with beating hearts. But then one day, a zombie named R feels human emotion/stimulation for the first time upon meeting a human girl, and through their bond, the other zombies feel their heartbeats/humanity being rekindled. But this gets the Boneys' attention, and soon, the living and the dead will have to put aside their differences so that mankind has a future.

Final Fate: After the zombies and the humans successfully bury the hatchet, the Boneys are cut down, and the rest of their population goes extinct as the undead regain their humanity and the apocalypse ends. R is rather blunt about how they basically genocided the Boneys, but of course, he notes how too far gone they actually were.

Powers/Abilities: They can sense anything with a heartbeat for miles.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 4-The Boneys are a combination of horror and tragedy. They're basically undead that have given up on anything getting better, and now they're wire-thin monsters because of it. The zombies are practically normal people in comparison to these ghoulish pack-hunters. At the very least, they're not too hard to kill.

Trivia: -The Boneys, much like their zombie predecessors, are most likely a symbol of depression. While the zombies represent the usual sort, the Boneys represent the phase of depression that brings upon suicidal self-harm and even the harm of others.

-In the end of the original short story, the Boneys have a significantly reduced role, and it ends with R and his lover biting each other, becoming a sort of anti-zombie in the process.
